People bicycle in a cool way in Chengdu: they stand up on the package carrier, even children either holding their parents around the neck or with a rope wrapped around their bum and then around the shoulders of the driver. I've never seen it done in this fashion or on this scale anywhere else in China. Both the driver and the passenger always seem to have a lot of fun too, giggly and chatting all the way. It's uniquely Chengdu.
